Hearing Self-Test

Use this self-test to help identify problems associated with hearing loss. Answer YES, NO or OCCASSIONALLY to each of the following questions. Be sure to answer all questions.
1. Are you embarrassed when meeting new people due to hearing difficulties?
2. Do you experience frustration when conversing with family members due to hearing difficulties?
3. Does hearing loss make it difficult for you to hear or understand your customers, clients or co-workers?
4. Do hearing difficulties cause you problems when visiting with relatives, friends and neighbors?
5. Do hearing difficulties make you feel handicapped?
6. Do hearing difficulties cause problems in enjoying movies, plays or musicals?
7. Do hearing difficulties ever lead to arguments with family?
8. Do you have difficulties in enjoying television or radio due to hearing loss?
9. Do you feel that your ability to hear puts limits on your social life?
10. Do hearing difficulties cause problems when dining in a restaurant with family or friends?
TO GET YOUR SCORE:
Each YES = 10 points
Each OCCASIONALLY = 5 points
Each NO = 0 points
0 to 20 total points = little to no hearing loss
25 to 60 points show a need for a hearing evaluation.
65 to 100 points show severing hearing difficulty - please consult a professional for full hearing evaluation immediately.
