Did you know that hearing loss is linked to cognitive decline and dementia? Each of these conditions can reduce your quality of life, making it all the more important to stay atop both your hearing and brain health. At Rametta Audiology & Hearing Aid Center, we’ve incorporated a special cognitive screening into our audiologic evaluations to help you do just that.
Test Your Cognitive Function
A cognitive screening can measure your current cognitive performance and be done while you are in the office. A cognitive screening can not only help manage cognitive decline, but it also serves as an advanced level tool for developing the right hearing care plan and hearing aid selection.
As more patients and families seek help to understand and manage cognitive aging, and as hearing issues are an important risk factor for cognitive impairment, it is a logical extension to include cognitive screening as part of overall testing protocol.
This is not an IQ test or list of questions, rather a simple, automated assessment. The results can help your Audiologist determine your cognitive health and ensure your hearing correction solutions are right for you.
Why should I take it?
Research shows that hearing loss and cognitive decline are related. In a recent study,* hearing loss was determined to be a top modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline when identified and addressed in midlife.2
What is Cognivue® Thrive?
Cognivue Thrive is a self-administered, 5-minute cognitive assessment that can be completed in our office and at the same time as your audiologic evaluation.
How we conduct cognitive screenings
- Cognivue Thrive evaluates three cognitive domains: memory, visuospatial and executive function
- Measures two speed performance parameters: reaction time and speed processing.
- The screening is non-invasive, interactive and intuitive
These domains and parameters are key to overall performance at any age.
How we report on your screening
The results of the Cognivue Thrive screening aid in providing a comprehensive management strategy for age-related hearing loss. After completing the self-administered, 5-minute cognitive test, a simple 1-page report is immediately generated.
- Immediate and easy to understand results
- Provides a brain health score for each domain and performance parameter
- Informs on your ability with examples of impact to daily activities
- Secure and confidential
While not a full cognitive evaluation, the Cognivue® Thrive screening brings potential areas of concern to your care team — including your audiologist and primary care provider — and aids in determining next steps for optimal health. Early action can support better outcomes, so don’t wait. Contact us to book your personalized hearing evaluation today!
